Celebrate Author's Month this November!

Thank you for your inspiring ideas!

"Customize assignments for children who are going to be out for extended time periods for special events. For example, if they are going to be out at a State Fair showing an animal, have them write a story from the animals point of view. When they come back, the story will help them remember details and make it easier for them to share their experiences with their classmates!"
-- Kimberly R. Smith, Teacher, Mission, TX

"Introduce students to many different authors and books by handing out a different book to each student from your classroom or library. Give the students a few minutes to look at the cover, check out the author information, and read the synopsis and or a few pages of the story. Have them write down the details on a piece of paper. Then every one in the class passes the book to the student next to them, and the process starts again. To close the activity, have students volunteer to do a 30 second commercial for the book they liked the best!"
-- Pat Thrailkill, Teacher, Orlando, FL
