Grades 6-8
Open-ended, real-world problems.
Each unit starts with an article to activate prior knowledge and establish concepts. It then presents a client with a related problem. Students organize the given information, develop options for attacking the problem, and devise a plan.
Several solutions are possible. Students solve the problem and write how they did it so the client can understand and follow the same steps. They present their solutions orally to the class. The teacher materials provide unit specific discussion questions, guides, and scoring rubrics.
