John D. Ivanko
Biography:

Biography: John D. Ivanko is an award-winning photographer and author, writer, national speaker, and conservationist who has done a fair bit of globetrotting. In 1992 John jumped off the corporate treadmill at an advertising agency to journey around the world on what has become known as his "quest for understanding." One year and 29 countries later, he returned to the United States with over 15,000 photographic images and stirring accounts of his journey. He never set foot in a cubicle again.

With these global images, John has become a regular photo contributor to the Global Fund for Children, a non-profit organization committed to teaching children to value diversity and grow into productive, caring citizens of the world through books and other outreach initiatives. He's also co-authored, with Maya Ajmera, six multicultural children's photobooks, including the award-winning, To Be a Kid, Be My Neighbor, To Be an Artist, Animal Friends and Back to School. The Global Fund for Children's flagship award-winning book, Children from Australia to Zimbabwe: A Photographic Journey Around the World (1998), includes several images from John's portfolio. His photography is also used in Extraordinary Girls (1999) and Let the Games Begin (2000). He's also co-authored Come Out and Play.

With his wife, Lisa Kivirist, John has also co-authored the book, ECOpreneuring: Putting Purpose and the Planet before Profits (www.ecopreneuring.biz), earning a Gold medal from Axiom Business Books. He has also co-authored, with his wife, Farmstead Chef (www.farmsteadchef.com), Rural Renaissance (wwwruralrenaissance.org) and Edible Earth. His writing or photography can be found in national magazines including Mother Earth News, Natural Home, E Magazine, Hobby Farm Home, and Urban Farms.

When not speaking or traveling to capture photographs, John lives with his wife and son on an organic farm where his family operates the award-winning Inn Serendipity Bed & Breakfast (www.innserendipity.com), completely powered by the wind and sun. He shares his farm with his wife and son, a 10kW Bergey wind turbine and millions of ladybugs.
