Based on a true story, Finding Home chronicles the journey a female koala and her baby must take to find a new home after bush fires destroy their habitat.

"Markle's smooth, elegant poetry and Marks' expressive, realistic mixed-media images five a strong sense of the animals' terror and the mother's intense bond with her child and show how humans can protect the increasing numbers of wildlife that are pushed by shrinking habitats into our neighborhoods."
&mdashBooklist

"Markle tells the tale in measured, sensitive, carefully non-anthropomorphic prose."
&mdashKirkus Reviews

"The book refreshingly eschews portraying humans as saviors or saboteurs, instead making clear through the koala's-eye-view that it's their mere presence in the habitat, no matter how benign their intentions, that's distressing to wild animals."
&mdashBulletin of the Center for Children's Books

What happens to a baby Mexican free-tailed bat whose mother doesn't return from her daily hunting trip? A tender story of sorrow and hope for one little lost bat.

"Markle successfully presents the astonishing world of Bracken Cave, the largest nursing colony of Mexican free-tailed bats. . . this is a must for every nonfiction collection and bat fan."
          — Kirkus Reviews, starred review

"The lucid free verse tells the elemental nature drama, and Marks' beautiful double-page watercolors with delicate ink details are equally effective at depicting the expansive blue sky and the tiny, furry brown baby, alone and then cuddled up safely at last."
