Laura Jacques
Biography: At one time, Laura Jacques lived with her husband and two daughters in a log cabin that they built on a twenty-six acre campground that they operated in Woodstock, Connecticut. Laura grew up in Newington, Connecticut, where she developed a deep love for both nature and art.
Laura's career began in the field of advertising, which led her into the world of fashion illustration. She has illustrated several children's books, including At Home in the Rainforest, written by Diane Willow, Going to a Horse Farm, written by Shirley Kerby James, Wildlife Refuge: A Classroom Adventure, written by Lorraine Ward and Sweet Magnolia, written by Virginia Kroll.
Laura frequently speaks at schools, encouraging young children to explore their artistic abilities. She explains the process of working with authors, editors, and publishers in order to successfully illustrate a book. Laura also discusses her concerns about the environment with children and encourages them to participate in saving our planet.
Laura currently lives in Massachusetts with her family.
