More than anything Sophy wants to go to school, but there are no schools in her small Cambodian village. The nearest school is many miles away over terrible roads. When Sophy is given a pair of running shoes, her life changes forever.

"This is a good example of a story with a universal message (finding courage to follow one's dreams) as it provides a window into an unfamiliar place and way of life."
&mdashBooklist

"Straightforward and accessible, this tale provides a memorable picture both of life in Cambodia and of one girl's struggle to obtain an education."
