Jules Older
Biography:

Jules Older has worked as a broadcaster, editor, psychologist, educator, college counselor, psychology professor, medical educator, disc jockey, ski instructor, and even as a villain on TV (for one month). He is currently the editor-in-chief of Ski Press and the author of more than twenty children's books.

Jules grew up in Baltimore, Maryland. He attended the University of Vermont, where he acquired his passion for skiing. During his summers at college, he worked with children as a nurse's aide in a locked psychiatric ward. This experience inspired him to pursue a career in clinical psychology. He earned his Ph.D. from New York University, where he was honored with the Phillip J. Zlatchen Award for Courage in Serving Humanity.

Jules and his wife, Effin, were married on a camping trip in the Virgin Islands. The Olders lived in New Zealand with their family for several years before moving back to Vermont to become full-time writers. Jules and Effin often collaborate on books and they also give seminars on children's writing and travel writing. Jules also teaches a popular course called "Writing for Real" at the University of Vermont.

Jules has written for The New Yorker, Los Angeles Times, Washington Times, and Skiing Magazine. He is the author of many children's books, including COW, Anita! The Woman Behind the Body Shop, Hank Prank in Love (Puffin Books), Hank Prank and Hot Henrietta (Puffin Books) and Ben and Jerry, The Real Scoop! (Chapters Publishing).

Jules writes funny, accurate, lively books for children. He visits schools and libraries across the country to encourage children to read and write. Jules donates 7.5 percent of all earnings from his children's books to causes such as The Heiffer Project and Doctors Without Borders. He lives in San Francisco.
