Astronomy is the ideal starting point for the study of the physical world because of its natural appeal to students. Shadow patterns, the seasons, night and day, the positions of the stars, and the phases of the moon are observable phenomena. As such, they provide an excellent base for ARIES explorations.

ARIES helps students make valid observations, formulate questions, make predictions and gather data through carefully structured explorations. Data show that ARIES students draw more accurate conclusions and make achievement gains significantly above control groups in field-tests conducted over a ten year period.
