Travel with Finn, a red-haired boy who lives on Elm Street, as he enlists the help of Santa on a journey to save a polar bear and his home--the melting glaciers. Along the way they encounter a walrus and a pod of beluga whales. This wonderfully written and beautifully illustrated tale reminds us all that anyone can make a difference in the world.

Today, the polar bear, one of the most impressive and fascinating mammals on Earth, faces the greatest-ever challenge to its survival with our rapidly changing environment.

We can all make a difference in our environment by helping to reduce our carbon footprint. The very special vision and work of Anne Margaret Lewis and Elisa Chavarri in this powerful book, Santa Goes Green, helps to establish this core message that willl not only change the way we think, but hopefully forever change our future.

How can you go green this Christmas?

  • Use eco-friendly LED Christmas lights!
  • Recycle your wrapping paper. We all like to rip and tear, but if you open carefully and fold the paper neatly, it will be good for next Christmas (or possibly other occasions).
  • Christmas cards make a great decoration for packages instead of bows. Just cut off the front of the card and tape it to your package. Then you can write your "To" and "From" on the card.
  • Collect all your unused and unwanted toys. If they are in good condition, or if you can have them repaired, consider donating them to a shelter or to Goodwill. Less fortunate children would love to have them.
  • Do your holiday shopping with eco-friendly re-usable shopping bags.
  • Great green holiday gift idea!: Adopt a Polar Bear! Learn more about polar bears at Polar Bears International. And, find out how you can adopt a polar bear at Defenders of Wildlife.
