The Come Look With Me series was created by art teacher and curator Gladys Blizzard to introduce youngsters to art. There are at least 10 books in the series. Each book reproduces 12 works of art. The series is designed for parents and/or teachers to interact with children; therefore, each page of artwork faces a page of text which includes simple questions to stimulate discussion, brief biographical notes concerning the artist, and few notes regarding the artwork being presented
In James Haywood Rolling, Jr.'s Discovering African American Art for Children, the artists selected a range from self taught folk artist Clementine Hunter to Paris-trained Henry O. Tanner. Children can glimpse urban life in New York during the 1950s or rural life during a Louisiana summer.
