I'm a Chicana storyteller, I call the beautiful state of New Mexico home. I write picture books and middle grade novels. Welcome Home, Esmerelda is my debut picture book, illustrated by Maribel Lechuga. I grew up as a military kid‚ moving around, dealing with change and always being the new kid. This experience shapes my writing. I entered my first writing contest in kindergarten, and I've always wanted to write and create. I'm a college graduate of Texas State University, where I studied applied sociology. I'm constantly inspired by my Mexican American community. I love to write stories filled with joy, strong female characters, and the power of believing in yourself. When I'm not writing you can find me chasing my little ones, dancing in the kitchen, and exploring the mountains.
