Jo Rippon first engaged in activism when she was eleven years old. An image of a devastated Amazon rain forest inspired her to become a vegetarian and take a stand against a big corporation that was clearing rain forest to farm beef for hamburgers.

Today Jo takes part in protest marches, where she sees creative and inspiring posters, placards, and even sculptures. She believes that art is powerful and that it can push people to action. As she puts it, “Art challenges us to ask questions and see and experience things from a different point of view. Art is diverse, but it also connects us.”

Jo is a writer and editor of books for adults on music and art. She lives in London with her husband and children.
