Global Baby Boys
By: Maya Ajmera
Adorable babies around the world.
Guys, these baby boys from around the world are cray cray adorbs.
For years The Global Fund for Children has been bringing young readers ages 0-10 board books and picture books that highlight the differences and the similarities of children everywhere— children who make the world a beautiful place.
Global Baby Boys, a companion to the best-selling Global Babies and Global Baby Girls, introduces babies and their grown-ups to the cuteness of little boys from Kyrgyzstan to Uruguay to the USA, showing that baby boys are kind, curious, smart, fun, and they can grow up to do anything!
A perfect baby shower gift or first book for the toddler in your life, babies love to look at babies and this bright collection of photos is just the ticket to an around-the-world journey.

This inviting board book features close-up photos of babies and toddlers from countries around the world. Spaced out through the pages, the upbeat text reads, “Around the world, / baby boys are kind, / curious, / smart, / and fun. / Baby boys / can grow up / to do anything!” The format will look familiar to fans of Ajmera’s Global Babies (2007) and American Babies (2010), previous board books sponsored by the Global Fund for Children. The excellent color photos here will captivate young children who love looking at faces and watching other kids in action. An engaging addition to board-book collections.
Following 2013's Global Baby Girls, this board book pairs photographs of very young boys from more than a dozen countries with a concise, direct message. "Around the world, baby boys are kind, curious, smart, and fun," writes Ajmera, founder of the nonprofit Global Fund for Children. "Baby boys can grow up to do anything!" The photographs are labeled with the nations the boys hail from--a Belgian child examines the moss and leaves covering a fallen tree, while a boy from Vietnam embraces a dog that's as tall as he is--but it's a sense of commonality, not difference, that shines through on every page.

Babies love nothing more than looking at the faces of their peers. These cuties from around the world are not modeling clothing. They are supporting a sweet, empowering text that states these universal truths: "Boys are kind, curious, smart, and fun. Baby boys can grow up to do anything!"
In the natural follow-up to Global Baby Girls (2013), youngsters can meet the sons of such nations as Australia, Canada, Guatemala, France, Mexico, Taiwan, Tobago, the United States and more.
In vivid close-up photos and full-body shots, most boys sport modern dress, though a few wear traditional garb. The simple, encouraging text follows the formula established by earlier Global Baby books, asserting that "Around the world," baby and toddler boys share universal attributes. Each eye-catching photo is labeled to indicate where the child or children are from. Many are bordered by bright colors to allow the bright yellow type to pop. In some subtle messaging, the boys are described as "kind" on a double-page spread that captures two babies hugging on the verso and a toddler nuzzling a dog almost the same height as he is on the recto. While the ethnic representation here is quite diverse, the lack of representation of babies from any African countries is surprising.
Oh boy, oh boy! These bright-eyed tykes are sure to draw any baby in.
